ANGELA VALELLA
is a Miami based artist with a long engagement with artist-led projects and collaborative initiatives. She founded The Nightclub in 2012. From 2005 to 2011 she co-founded 801 Projects, a contemporary space dedicated to promote the arts that included exhibitions, workshops and talks. One of the founding members of Design and Architecture School, DASH in South Florida, she has been a contributor in the research of the book Memoria, Cuban Art of the 20th Century and organized curatorial shows and conferences among others. She is curatorial advisor to the MOAD Museum of Art and Design in Miami. She is collaborator to Fall Semester, an independent initiative for public discussion on contemporary society and culture based in Miami, FL. Her work has been exhibited in MOCA, Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, Galeria do Museu, Lisbon, Portugal, Museo Nacional de Arte Moderno, Guatemala City, Guatemala, Centro Cultural Español, Miami, MOAD Museum of Art and Design, Miami, Miami Dade Public Library, Miami, The Art Center at Colorado, Coral Springs, CO, Blackbird Space, San Francisco, CA and Colby Gallery, Chicago, among others. She is the recipient of the CINTAS Fellowship Award 2013-201
